Candy Candappa
Business Coach
After over 35 years working in IT, project management and consulting I’m now looking to share what I’ve learnt. Whilst I continue to find the design, implementation and operation of technology enthralling, by far the most challenging and rewarding area has been leading the people who manage technology.
I provide advice and interim management with particular focus on:
- Pictures telling stories – How we use diagrams and graphical information to understand complex systems, processes and status.
- Making decisions early – How we make decisions without “perfect information”. Many projects fail as decisions are deferred beyond the point when they need to be made if one is to have a chance of achieving the objectives (often in the vain hope of better information tomorrow!).
- Wood from the trees – How we increase personal and team productivity and collaboration by being organised, building trust and concentrating on high value activities.
- Wanting to come to work – How we help our staff achieve at their highest levels without burning out by creating an environment that promotes safe risk taking whilst protecting mental health by making work fun.
I am looking for help from the Hive community to start a blog to share my thoughts and experience.
I’ve been fortunate to work on start-ups, turnarounds and operations; to work for SMEs as well as huge, listed companies and to have founded up, grown, shrunk and ultimately sold a small business. I’ve worked primarily in 2 verticals – financial services and telecoms – and 4 horizontals – customer service; IT implementation/transformation; IT service management and Quality Assurance/testing.
Personality analysis shows me to be an analytical/driver – I like detail and I like getting things delivered. I am a calm, thoughtful, challenging and supportive.
I’m a charity trustee, have chaired a supervisory board and am looking for non-executive director opportunities.
